Childcare Allowance

The costs for childminding are made up of costs for the childminder and costs for the childminder agency. Part of these costs can be reimbursed to parents in the form of childcare allowance. 

Childcare allowance is a financial allowance from the government for parents who use childcare. This allowance is intended to help parents pay for childcare costs so that they can continue to work or study.

In order to receive childcare allowance for childminding, parents must meet a number of conditions. For example, the childminder must meet certain quality requirements and there must be an agreement between the parents and the childminder. The costs for childcare must also be reasonable and the parent must pay part of the costs themselves.

De hoogte van de kinderopvangtoeslag bij gastouderopvang is afhankelijk van verschillende factoren, zoals het inkomen van de ouders, het aantal kinderen dat gebruik maakt van de opvang en het aantal uren dat de kinderen worden opgevangen. Elk jaar wordt het te vergoeden uurtarief geïndexeerd. In 2024 is dit tarief voor de gastouderopvang maximum € 7,53 per uur. Parents can apply for the childcare allowance at the Tax and Customs Administration.
